Roswell, GA (March 26, 2008)-Several years ago local Roswell youth Tom Greer started playing golf with his dad. Tom quickly picked up the game and started playing in the US Kids Golf Tournament Series. After turning 13 years old he was too old to compete in the US Kids Golf, so his dad introduced him to the game of disc golf.

It didn’t take long before Tom decided that disc golf was a lot more fun than “ball” golf. Shortly after being introduced to the game, Rick Greer, Tom’s dad, took him to a disc golf course. In the summer of 2007, Tom enrolled in Roswell Recreation and Parks’ Youth Disc Golf camp. When asked about the camp, Tom responded “I liked the camp because I was able to just play and learn more about disc golf. I learned the X step from Tony “Moose” Moussakhani and Jay Voss (instructors at the camp). It was fun to play with my friends Ethan and Ross and also meet some new disc golfers. I can’t wait for the camp next summer!”

It has been almost a year since Tom started playing disc golf and he is making a name for himself. Tony Moussakhani encouraged Tom to play in as many tournaments as he could. Tom played in four local disc golf tournaments in 2007 and placed first in his division in all four of them. Tom won the Georgia State Championships in August, the Lake Russell Open in September, Roswell’s Lost in the Woods in October and Squirrel Fest at Redan Park in November.

While Tom has many favorite courses, East Roswell Park is one of Tom’s favorite courses because it is close to home and he usually gets to play it once a week.
