The 25th Annual Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk drew massive crowds on Thursday, September 27, as more than 15,000 runners and walkers took to the street and collectively pounded the pavement in celebration of the event’s 25th running in downtown Atlanta. A total of more than 425 Atlanta companies pitched enormous colorful tents in Turner Field’s green lot and celebrated 25 years with catered cuisine, dancing, live entertainment and relaxed networking. The Atlanta Drum Line gave a stunning performance and a spectacular fireworks display capped off an enjoyable evening.
Several awards were distributed in a variety of categories for the 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk:

One of the evening’s highlights was a special presentation to KPCRW founder and 25-year race director, Jeff Galloway, of Galloway Productions. The U.S. Olympian, author of 13 fitness books and winner of the first Peachtree Road Race, was honored with a KP Corporate Cup by Kaiser Permanente executives for his commitment to health and fitness. Additionally, Galloway received the prestigious Phoenix Award by Atlanta City Councilman, Ceasar C. Mitchell, and a proclamation from the Mayor’s office.
Additionally, prize giveaways included Delta Air Lines round-trip tickets, a free week at a beach house on the Gulf Coast, $300 shopping spree at Phidippides and four tickets to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s ‘Wizard of Oz.’
About the Kaiser-Permanente Corporate Run/Walk & Fitness Program
The Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk & Fitness Program is a unique workplace-organized fitness event that began in 1983 in Atlanta with 900 participants from a handful of companies. Designed to inspire fun, fitness and camaraderie among Atlanta’s corporate community, the annual event attracts almost 18,000 participants and spectators from 400-plus companies and is one of the largest workplace organized corporate fitness events in the Southeast. Event highlights of the 25th running include an eight-week “Get Active Atlanta” training program, Chamber of Commerce Fitness Challenge, 5K run/walk, live music, awards ceremony, fireworks display and hundreds of office picnics in downtown Atlanta, adjacent to Turner Field.
