Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week following his performance against the Oakland Raiders in a 24-0 victory.
Playing in front of 60,000 fans at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, Ryan completed 17 of 22 passes for (77.3 pct.) for 220 yards, two touchdowns and a 138.4 quarterback rating. His two touchdown passes, both to wide receiver Michael Jenkins, marked his third multiple-touchdown game this season. Ryan set first half season highs with 184 passing yards, an 81.3 completion percentage and a 154.2 passer rating. His final completion percentage of 77.3 is a career-high along with his passer rating of 138.4, which also ranks as the fifth-highest total for a quarterback in a game this season.
Ryan was recently named NFC Rookie of the Month after guiding the Falcons to a 2-1 record in October, which included wins at Green Bay and a comeback victory against Chicago . Through eight games this season he had completed 133 of 227 passes for 1,661 yards, nine touchdowns and five interceptions for an 85.4 passer rating.
Ryan and the Falcons, who have posted a 3-0 record at home, host the New Orleans Saints at the Georgia Dome on Sunday, November 9. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
