Alpharetta, GA…The City of Alpharetta Recreation and Parks Department will be the site of the International Friendship Bowl at North Park beginning August 1st.
Coordinated by Alpharetta Youth Football Association (AYFA), this sporting event involves one junior and one senior football team from Panama City, Panama, competing against Alpharetta Eagles football teams comprised of boys age 10 to 12 years. In addition to football practices and games, all players and their families will participate in social events throughout the week, including a visit to the Falcon’s Training Camp, tours of local attractions, barbeques, and more. The final games will be held on Saturday, August 4th beginning at 3:30pm at North Park. The public is invited.
Steve Mills, President of AYFA, noted that this is the first time in AYFA’s history that they will kick off the youth football season with games against teams from another country. He hopes that this endeavor will provide an opportunity for all players to learn about each other’s culture and customs.
Jim Paine, Alpharetta City Council Member and Mayor Pro-Tem, commented “The City of Alpharetta is proud to host this exciting international event at one of our award-winning parks. The leadership of Alpharetta Youth Football Association is to be commended for providing this opportunity for our youth to be a part of this historic occasion.”
