Would you ignore what makes up 80% of your weight-loss? Sorry ladies and gentlemen, but science is on our side! As much as you may like to ignore it, nutrition makes up 80% of your weight-loss. A lot of clients believe that they “know” what they should and shouldn’t eat, but they just don’t do it. Is that really the case though? Often times we think we know, but with so much miss-leading information out there, it’s very easy to get lost in translation. Here are a couple myths that many fall prey too.
All fats are bad! Not true! Your body needs fat to burn fat. Look people, you may hate it, but fat protects your organs, regulates your body temperature, keeps your skin and hair healthy, and leaves you feeling fuller after a meal, so you won’t be hungry and eat more later. It’s essential for protecting and repairing the walls of each and every cell in your body and absorbing vitamins such as A,D,E and K. This doesn’t mean hit the nearest fast food joint, but it does mean don’t avoid all fats like the plague!
Skip meals to lose weight. If you skip a meal, your body will think that you are in starvation mode and therefore slow down the metabolism as a tool for survival. I don’t think I need to break this down, but just incase; slow metabolism equals fat storing machine! You do the math!
Now that we’ve busted a couple of the leading myths out there, I leave you with a quote to think about while you’re throwing those weights around without the proper nutrition; “Exercise is only beneficial if the body is being fed correctly…”! Stop spinning those wheels and get the results you want!
