Roswell to Hold Water Conservation Town Hall Meeting*

Published Apr 14, 2008

Roswell Councilman Kent Igleheart is hosting a Water Conservation Town Hall Meeting* on Thursday, April 24 from 7:30 – 9 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers, 38 Hill Street.

Topics to be discussed during the meeting include:

·         Roswell’s current watering restrictions for residents;

o        Are you served by Roswell or Fulton County water systems?

o        How do you register to water outdoors?

·         Input on recommendations for steps the City, residents and businesses can take to help with water conservation;

o       Are rebates appropriate for conservation measures?

o       Are retrofit requirements appropriate as conservation

measures for existing homes (at resale) and businesses?

·         Options for long-term conservation solutions for the City of Roswell.

Citizen input will be a key element of the meeting.

Roswell City staff have been working on a set of conservation measures for several months and Councilman Igleheart has met several times with an informal committee of representatives of homeowner associations, developers, businesses and others impacted by the drought.

"The current drought is short-term but we have to come to grips with the fact that water is a finite resource and that conservation is going to be necessary for the long term,"  Igleheart said. "The meeting will be a combination of education for and input from citizens on what Roswell does now and in the future to address water needs. Following this meeting I intend to form a 'Green Ribbon Committee' to continue this process to create a plan for sustainability for Roswell that includes water use and I encourage anyone interested in that to attend."

*Notice is hereby provided under O.C.G.A.§50-14-1 et. seq. that a possible quorum of the Mayor and City Council may be present for discussion purposes only.
