Get Your Home Ready For Fall And Keep Bugs and Critters Out

Published Sep 18, 2007

Wow, did I sense a touch of Fall in the air this morning or what? I walked outside at 5:45 am and it was actually cool!

And, of course, I immediately started thinking about bugs (surprise surprise). Cool weather brings on a flurry of bug activity here in the Southland. Big Smokey Brown Cockroaches, ants, scorpions, spiders.....they all want to get to a warmer place and so, many of them find their way into our homes.

You will get tired of hearing me say this (some of you already have)but you need to check the door thresholds, window sills, pipes, vents, cracks, louvres and eaves for ways that bugs can get into your home. Caulking, weatherstripping, screening, all will go a long way toward keeping those unwanted pests on the OUTSIDE of the house.

I'll give you more information later about what you can do to bug-proof your home as the weather continues to get colder.

My Pest Advice: Take action NOW and start plugging up holes and cracks and crevices. Don't wait 'till they get inside.

Have a great day,

Hal
