Entering into their 8th year with the City of Alpharetta Recreation & Parks Department, the Rhythm n’ Shoes Dance Program, run by Peri Sanders and held at the Alpharetta Community Center, offers many different types & forms of dance for children of all ages. Recital and non-recital classes run all year long. Our recital classes start in August and finish up in May with our annual recital. Non-recital class sessions run 10-13 weeks. Fall 2008 classes will begin the week of August 25th and they run through November & December with winter session beginning in January and running through March.
Tiny Toes is a parent participation dance class for children 18 months-2½ years. With help from an adult, dancers will explore basic movement and music activities using fun songs & props. Classes for the fall are being held on Tuesdays from 9:30am-10am and for the winter on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9:30am-10am.
Twinkle Two’s is for our 2 year old dancers, similar to our Tiny Toes program but parents do not participate in this class. Fall classes being held on Wednesdays 10am-10:30am. Winter classes will run on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10am-10:30am.
Me & My Teddy Bear is an opportunity for your 3-4 year old dancer to bring their favorite bear to class each week and dance with them. Bear themed music will be incorporated as they learn basic ballet positions & movement. Fall classes will run on Wednesdays from 11:30am-12:15pm and winter classes will meet on Mondays from 11:15pm-12pm and Wednesdays from 11:30am-12:15pm.
Pretty Princess Ballet is the perfect class for your 3-5 year old princess! Dancers will come dressed as their favorite princess each week and learn basic ballet positions and movement. Fall classes will be held on Tuesdays from 10am-10:45am and winter session classes will meet on Mondays & Tuesdays from 10:30am-11:15am or 3:15pm-4pm as well as Wednesdays from 2:15pm-3pm.
Rising Stars for 3-4 year olds is a 1-hour class that combines music & movement, basic ballet, and tap. Classes are available on Wednesday mornings from 10:30am-11:30 am and Thursday afternoons from 3pm-4pm.
Ballet/Tap and Ballet/Jazz for 4-6 year olds are also 1-hour classes combining two very classic forms of dance. Ballet/Tap classes available Tuesday 5pm-6pm and Ballet/Jazz classes available Wednesdays 3pm-4pm
Hip-Hop is a popular form of dance seen in many of music videos and concerts. This style of dance uses quick, jolting, sharp moves, unlike other styles. Great way for kids to gain the
confidence to participate in some of their social activities. Your 6-8 year old is sure to enjoy this class on Thursdays from 4pm-5pm
For the 2nd year in a row we are offering our very popular Ballet and Tap classes for children ages 7 & older. Classes are 45 minutes long and run back to back if your dancer thinks they would like to take both forms of dance. Ballet is held on Mondays from 6pm-6:45pm and Tap from 6:45pm-7:30pm.
