Artist Selected to Create Awards Statuette

A highlight of the CABYs is the uniquely designed awards statuette. The commission for the statuettes has become an honor for the artist selected to produce them. Previous commissions were awarded to well known Roswell clay artists Debra Fritts (’06) and Joan Rasmussen (’07). Roswell mixed media artist George Long has been commissioned to design the 2008 awards. George is represented by the Marcia Wood Gallery in Atlanta and has participated in numerous shows here and around the country such as the recent “Art in Freedom Park” installation.

“The Roswell Cultural Arts Board is gearing up for another fantastic evening hosting the 2008 CABYs next March 13th! We, as a board, continue to strive to cultivate and promote the artists and arts organizations of Roswell,” explains Sharon Moskowitz, CAB Chairman. “This third annual event will honor and showcase a very well-deserving sector of our community. We are a city with many attributes, but the arts are truly what help to give this city its vibrancy and life. The CAB welcomes business sponsorships to make this program the best it can be, year after year.”

In addition to the Cultural Arts Board volunteers, many other individuals and businesses have and will contribute to this effort including: WSB TV’s John Pruitt serving as Master of Ceremonies; the Bank of North Georgia returning for the third year as a Presenting Sponsor and professionals providing production design for the March 13 event.

Funding for this program comes entirely from corporate sponsors, ticket revenues from the event, and advertising sold in the event program. The CAB and the Roswell Arts Renaissance, Inc. (RoAR) are solely responsible for raising funds for the event.

Interested donors should, contact CAB Chair Sharon Moskowitz at srmevents@yahoo.com. All proceeds from the event will be held in a special fund maintained by RoAR for a future ‘Contracts for Services’ program that will place the funds back into the community in the form of financial support for Roswell arts and culture-related organizations.
