This announcement brings Fulton’s total to 55 National Merit Scholars in the 2008 competition. Earlier in the school year, seven students also were named National Achievement Scholars, a similar academic competition hosted by the National Merit Scholarship Corp. for African-American high school students.
All of the students were first identified through exceptionally high scores on the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which they took as juniors last school year. They have a record of high academic performance, are endorsed and recommended by their school principal, and have earned high SAT scores that confirm their earlier qualifying test performance
