Winners in the first three divisions of the annual National Merit Scholarship Program have been announced, recognizing 21 Fulton County seniors for their academic excellence. National Merit will announce college-sponsored Merit Scholarship winners on May 28 and July 14.
These outstanding seniors were initially identified through exceptionally high scores on the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. In addition to having a record of high academic performance, they are endorsed by their school principal and have earned high SAT scores confirming their earlier qualifying test performance.
National Merit Scholarship Winners
Seven Fulton County seniors have been named National Merit Scholars. Along with the prestigious National Merit Scholar distinction, the students earned $2,500 cash scholarships to use at the college or university of their choice.

Scott H. Reed – Milton High School
Willa Ni – Northview High School
Sarah Ryu – Northview High School
Andrea C. Folds – Roswell High School
Alisha A. Kasam – Roswell High School
Corporate-Sponsored Merit Scholarship Winners
Nine Fulton County seniors were awarded corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards. These scholarships are sponsored by corporations which designate awards for finalists with career plans the sponsor wishes to encourage, for children of their employees or for residents of a community where a company has operations. These scholarships may either be renewable for four years of undergraduate study or be granted as one-time awards.

National Achievement Scholarship Winners
Five seniors also were named National Achievement Scholars, a similar academic competition for African-American high school students. The students either won a $2,500 cash prize or an equivalent scholarship from one of the corporations underwriting the National Merit program.
