Fulton Commissioners Thank Library Volunteers for Nearly $1 Million of Service

Fulton County Commission Chairman John H. Eaves (center) receives a symbolic check for $948,516 that represents the value of an estimated 54,000 service hours performed by the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library’s more than 1,800 volunteers in 2007. Ninety volunteers donated over 100 hours each, and 26 donated over 200 hours each. Volunteers serve a variety of roles, such as literacy tour guides, English-as-a-Second-Language and math tutors, computer and clerical assistants, job search coaches and special event hosts.
