The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety conducted a large scale safety checkpoint on Halloween night in Alpharetta. A total of twenty-nine police officers and volunteer staff conducted an operation on Kimball Bridge Road. Director Gary George of the Alpharetta Dept. of Public Safety says “Halloween night is becoming more dangerous for the motoring public due to alcohol related activities.” “One way to be proactive is to conduct safety checks and let our citizens know we take their safety seriously.” During the operation officers on scene observed and made contact with 450 drivers. Officers issued 35 citations, 29 warnings and made 10 arrests. The arrest activity consisted of traffic offenses including one DUI drug arrest, two DUI alcohol arrests, one wanted person located and one suspended license arrest. The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety will be conducting numerous safety checkpoints in the near future as the holiday period commences.
