Historic Opportunity for Fulton County
Loughrey Campaign Wrap-up: Huge Success, Says Candidate
Bill Loughrey, candidate for Fulton County Commissioner, says his campaign to unseat incumbent Robb Pitts has been a “huge success.”
Loughrey said, “We came out of nowhere with our message of change and reform of the dysfunctional Fulton County Government. I visited the homes of more than 26,000 voters, listening and learning. It is clear that our message has resonated with Fulton County residents and that we are on the verge of an historic victory.
“The people want and deserve tax relief. We need to build on improvements already made in Grady Hospital, reform MARTA, and attack the traffic gridlock that has made life miserable for so many residents. We need to improve the criminal justice system and end the hostility of the Commission toward the new cities in Fulton County.”
Loughrey said that he is humbled by the outpouring of support he has received throughout the county. “Whether people live in South Fulton, Atlanta or North Fulton, the reaction to our message has been consistent and extremely positive. The people want change. They say it is time for Robb Pitts to go.”
Loughrey has received the endorsements of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Creative Loafing. The Committee for a Better Atlanta awarded Loughrey its highest ranking. The Fulton County Public Safety Labor Coalition also endorse Loughrey as do many political and community leaders.
Loughrey said that Robb Pitts has lost touch with his constituents and has been guilty of poor judgment, such as his appearance in court in his official capacity as a “constitutional officer” on behalf of a convicted violent rapist who preyed on Fulton County women.
“Mr. Pitts has a history of flip-flopping on major issues,” said Loughrey. For example, we were subjected to weeks of his embarrassing off-again, on-again treatment of Sandy Springs as it moved to independent city-hood. He should have supported the will of the people right from the start.”
Loughrey emphasized the importance of defeating Robb Pitts. “This election is our only opportunity to change things for the better in Fulton County. If Mr. Pitts continues in office, the citizens of Fulton County will be subjected to four more years of the same incompetent, hostile and dysfunctional government we have come to know under Pitts’ stewardship.
“We need to give Fulton County back to the people. I have a plan to fix Fulton County and I hope that on November 7, voters will give me the opportunity to work for them and with them for the next four years.
